Integra's MailGuard service helps to protect your computer from unsolicited and potentially hazardous email.
MailGuard functions by scanning email destined for your account. Analysis includes the following criteria:
Whether the IP address of the sender is on a list of known IP addresses of spammers
Whether the text of the message contains words commonly found in spam messages, such as "mortgage" or "replica watches"
Whether any attachments include embedded code of known viruses
MailGuard separates junk mail and viruses from legitimate messages. Legitimate e-mail messages pass through to your inbox while junk e-mail is quarantined in a web-based, password-protected Message Center. You have access to quarantined e-mail in the Message Center and the ability to create Blocklists (domains always blocked) and Safelists (domains never blocked).
Historically, Integra used services provided by Postini and while the service has been satisfactory, Integra Telecom is transitioning to IronPort Systems' anti-spam technology. The benefits of this change for you include a streamlined interface and a dedicated internally-managed server environment providing greater performance of your email scanning. An additional benefit is you’ll receive a weekly summary of the scanning activity for your accounts.
Once logged in, you'll see the Message Center. Email identified as spam is listed. You have the option to release it (and add it to the Safelist) or delete it with the "Select Action" button on the drop-down list.
Many of the functions of the Message Center can also be performed directly from within the weekly activity summary sent to your account.
Integra's new Ironport-based system is very simple and does not require any configuration on your part.
