Outlook 2002 Email Client Configuration Instructions

Compatible Operating Systems: Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP

Introduction

This will set up your computer to access your Integra Telecom email using Microsoft Outlook 2002. These instructions will walk you through each step of the configuration to help the process move smoothly. It is recommended that these instructions be printed out and set aside for future reference.

Setting up

Close all open windows and running programs.

  1. There are three ways to access the email account setup for Outlook 2002 (XP), no one way is better then the other so just choose one:
    • From the Desktop: Right click on the 'Microsoft Outlook' icon and select Properties. Then click the email Accounts button.
    • From the Control Panel: Double-click on the 'Mail' icon. Then click the email Accounts button.
    • From Outlook 2002 itself: Click on the Tools button on the menu bar and select email Accounts.
  2. E-mail Accounts window.
    Select the radio button labeled Add a new email account and click the Next button.
  3. Server Type window.
    Select the radio button labeled POP3 and click the Next button.
  4. Internet E-Mail Settings (POP3) window.

    User Information
    Your Name: Type a name that will display to people you send email to.
    email address: Enter in your email address (i.e. address@integra.net).

    Server Information
    Incoming mail server (POP3): Enter "pop.integra.net" (without quotes).
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Enter "smtp.integra.net" (without quotes) *.
    *If you are not using Integra to connect to the Internet then you need to use your connectivity providers SMTP server.

    Logon Information
    User Name: Enter your user name (i.e. address.integra.net).
    Password: Enter your password.
    Leaving Remember password checked is helpful.
    Leave Log on using SPA UNchecked.

    SMTP Setup
    Click the More Settings Button and then click on the Outgoing Server tab. Put a check in "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and then leave it set to "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
    Click on the Advanced tab and for Outgoing mail (SMTP) change the 25 to 587.
    Click OK.
    Click Next

  5. All done!
    Click the button labeled Finish.
    If the Mail Setup - Outlook window is open, click the Close button.

Conclusion

Now that the information has been entered into Outlook 2002, you should be able to send and receive email without error. If you would like to add another email address to use the same Inbox, just start at the beginning and work through the steps.

Configure POP E-mail Request Interval

  1. Click on the Tools menu and choose Options.
  2. Click on the Mail Setup tab and click the Send/Receive button.
  3. Make sure "Schedule an automatic send/receive every" is set no lower than 5 minutes.
  4. Click Close.
  5. Click OK.
