Outlook 2000 Email Client Configuration Instructions

Compatible Operating Systems: Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP

Introduction

This will set up your computer to access your Integra Telecom email using Outlook 2000. These instructions will walk you through each step of the configuration to help the process move smoothly. It is recommended that these instructions be printed out and set aside for future reference.

Setting up Close all open windows and running programs.

There are two different ways that Outlook 2000 can be configured depending what option was selected during the installation of Office 2000. The two different ways are "Corporate" or "Internet Only" and can be identified through the Mail applet in the Control Panel. "Corporate" will have a tab labeled Services whereas "Internet Only" will have a tab labeled Mail.

  1. Open the Control Panel by clicking Start, go up to Settings and select Control Panel (Windows XP: Click Start and select Control Panel).


  2. Open the Mail applet. Take note of the window that displays and follow the correct instruction path below.

Corporate or Workgroup

  1. Click Add.


  2. Select "Internet E-mail" from the Add Service to Profile window and click OK.


  3. The Mail Account Properties window will open.
  4. General Tab
    Mail Account
    Enter in your email address in this field.

    User Information
    Name:

    E-mail address:
    Type your email address in this field as well.

    Servers Tab Server Information
    Incoming mail (POP3): Enter "pop.integra.net" (without quotes)
    Outgoing mail (SMTP): Enter "smtp.integra.net" (without quotes)
    Incoming Mail Server
    Account Name:
    Enter your user name (i.e. user.integra.net)
    Enter your password (passwords are case sensitive).
    SMTP Setup:
    Under Outgoing Mail Server, put a check in "My server requires authentication." Click on the Advanced tab and for Outgoing mail (SMTP) change the 25 to 587.


  5. No other options need to be selected.
    Click OK.


  6. Click OK to return to the Control Panel.
 

Internet Only

  1. Click Add and then select Mail.
    Internet Connection Wizard

    Your Name Display Name:
    Type a name that will display to people you send email to, then click Next.

    Internet email address: Type in your email address (i.e. address@integra.net), then click Next.

    E-mail Server Names
    Leave POP3 selected as server type.
    Incoming mail (POP3): Enter "pop.integra.net" (without quotes).
    Outgoing mail (SMTP): Enter "smtp.integra.net" (without quotes)*.
    *If you are not using Integra to connect to the Internet then you need to use your connectivity providers SMTP server.

    Click Next.

    Internet Mail Logon Enter in your email account name (i.e. address.integra.net) and password.
    Leave the check mark in the Remember Password box.

    Click Next

    Complete Configuration
    Click Finish. Then close the Accounts window.

Conclusion

Now that the information has been entered into Outlook 2000, you should be able to send and receive email without error. If you would like to add another email address to use the same Inbox, just start at the beginning and work through the steps.



Configure POP E-mail Request Interval

  1. Click on the Tools menu and choose Options.
  2. Click on the Internet E-mail tab and make sure that "Check my local network connection(s) for new mail every 5 minute(s)" is set to 5 or higher.
  3. Click OK.
