Windows Dial-up Configuration Instructions
Introduction
This will set up your computer to connect to Integra Telecom Internet access using the Internet Connection Wizard, part of the Microsoft Internet Explorer package. The package is freely available on the web at
http://www.microsoft.com/ie/. The steps of the wizard go though configuring Dial Up Networking, Outlook Express Email and the Internet applet in the Windows Control Panel. These instructions will walk you through each step of the wizard to help the process move smoothly. It is recommended that these instructions be printed out and set aside for future reference.
Setting up
Close all open windows and running programs.
Get Started
Click on the Start button and select Run. Type inetwiz in the Open field and click OK.
Setup Your Internet Connection
Select Configure my Internet connection manually, then Next and/or Connect using my phone line, then click Next.
- Select Create a new dial-up connection, and click Next. (if necessary)
- Enter in your local access number then click Next.
- Enter in the dial-up username (not email address) and dial-up password and click Next.
- In the Connection Name field, replace what is there with: Integra Online and click Next.
Set up your Internet Mail Account
Select Yes and click Next.
- Internet Mail Account (this window appears when there are existing mail accounts setup)
- Select Create a new Internet Mail Account and click Next.
Your Name
In the Display Name field, type a name that you would like to have appear to the recipients of email that you send, then click Next.
Internet E-mail address
Type the E-mail address then click Next.
E-mail Server Names
- Leave POP3 selected as incoming mail server type.
- In the incoming mail field, type "mail.integra.net" (without quotes).
- In the outgoing mail field, type "mail.integra.net" (without quotes).
- Click Next
Internet Mail Logon
- Enter in the email account name (ie. user.integra.net) and the email password, then click Next.
- Leave the check mark in the Remember Password field.
- Do Not put a check mark in the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) field.
Complete Configuration
You did it! Read the final details and click Finish.
Conclusion
Now that the information has been entered into Dial-up Networking and Outlook Express, you should be able to establish a connection to the Internet and send/receive email without error. If you have received an error, try to correct the problem that the error states.
