Integra Telecom Executive Receives Top Leadership Award
Carol Wirsbinski Recognized by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's "25 Industry Leaders" for Achievements, Contributions
MINNEAPOLIS - July 28, 2006 - Carol Wirsbinski, senior vice president of government and regulatory affairs for Integra Telecom, was named one of this year's "25 Women Industry Leaders" by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Wirsbinski was selected based on her business achievements and contributions to the community. The announcement was made at the Women in Business Awards luncheon on July 27. Integra Telecom is a leading provider of all-in-one telecommunications and internet services for small and mid-sized businesses with a presence in five states.
The annual event, attended by more than 1,100 business and community leaders, recognized the significant business and civic contributions made by 25 women working in the Twin Cities region.
"I am honored to receive this award and it is a privilege to be recognized among this group of accomplished women," said Wirsbinski. "I have to thank my team at Integra Telecom for their support and for making it possible for me to give back to our business community."
Wirsbinski has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, most recently overseeing Integra Telecom of Minnesota, Integra's largest market, from 2000 to 2005. Under her leadership, the company received the highest customer service marks of any Minnesota telecommunications operator.
During her tenure, she has overseen the dispersal of employee volunteer time, in-kind services and cash donations to several community organizations. She is also actively involved in the local chapter of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign, which raises awareness for women's heart disease.
Earlier this year, Wirsbinski was named senior vice president of government and external affairs for Integra Telecom's five state operating areas. In this role, Wirsbinski works with state and federal regulatory decision-makers, impacting telecommunications policy making on a national level. Wirsbinski is also a member of the Minnesota Telecom Alliance (MTA) Board of Directors.
Wirsbinski is frequently recognized among Minnesota's telecom industry leaders as a coalition-builder who has demonstrated significant leadership in creating and preserving a vibrant telecommunications sector for residents and business-owners.
