Dick Hannah Dealerships

Fast-forward in time from a small Vancouver, Washington car lot in 1949 to today, and you'll now see the Northwest vehicle sales empire that has become Dick Hannah Dealerships.

The auto dealerships are a 3rd generation, family-run business-one of Washington's largest private employers. They feature Honda, Acura, Chrysler, Jeep, Kia, Scion, Lincoln, Mercury, Subaru, Toyota, and Volkswagen vehicles at stores in Vancouver and Kelso, Washington, as well as in Portland, Bend and Albany, Oregon. The company also operates a collision repair center and a pre-owned auto outlet.

Each location, of course, has demanding voice and data communications requirements-keeping sales and service in touch with customers, suppliers, and manufacturers by telephone, as well as managing an increasing load of Internet-based client interactions.

So as their auto empire continued to expand, the company tasked IT Director Sean McKannay with a mission to wrangle the communications network and build new efficiencies into their business, thereby giving Dick Hannah Dealerships a new competitive advantage.

Early in the re-evaluation of Hannah's network, McKannay put out a request for proposal to all major telecommunications carriers in the area. And from the pack rose Integra Telecom, McKannay says, for their cost-effectiveness, flexibility and professionalism.

"We're a locally owned and operated company with an 'extra-mile' culture," says McKannay. "I felt the same about the Integra proposal. They really worked with me to set up an efficient network design."

Integra's private line Ethernet and T-1 services now link the Hannah'stwelve locations, including their headquarters. Prior to the change, the mix of voice and data services ran about 50/50. Now, the company's IP telephony network has moved the data services traffic to about 90% of their total requirement.

When service needs arise, McKannay appreciates the professionalism his telecom provider extends. "I like having a local service and network group that doesn't drop me into an automated phone system," says McKannay. "And Integra's follow-up to installation and service requests has been exceptional and consistent."

Dick Hannah Dealerships is looking to extend its business efficiencies beyond just telecommunications. New initiatives include an emphasis on 'green' practices-including recycling programs, energy conservation with the local utility board, and customer education and outreach on energy-efficient vehicles.

And as Dick Hannah's telecommunication provider, Integra Telecom is thrilled to be along for the ride.
