As his father struggled to support a family after a back injury, David Allen found his calling. Setting his sights on helping the injured and disabled, he left his hometown in Wisconsin to study at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, renowned for its award-winning trial lawyer alumni. He graduated in 1978, founded David Allen & Associates in 1980 with offices in Sacramento and Las Vegas, and set out to help and protect those with Social Security, Disability and Insurance Bad Faith claims.
Fighting for the fair treatment of disabled and injured workers, a current federal law that Allen opposes is the Employment Retirement Security Act (ERISA), which was passed at the request of the insurance industry in 1974. "ERISA puts disabled workers with long-term disability coverage through their employers at an incredible disadvantage," Allen explained. "Under ERISA, there is no penalty for Bad Faith actions committed by the insurance companies, so it is easy for them to turn down claims because they know that they won't be hit with punitive damages."
To help his clients avoid pitfalls such as the problems associated with ERISA, Allen requires a reliable means of communication.
